Mr. Serajuddin Seraj (Chairman of the Board)
Mr. Serajuddin Seraj is from Faizabad, Badakhshan province. Seraj graduated from Faculty of Agriculture, Baghlan University in 2016. Since 2018, Seraj has been working in ministry of energy and water as a project monitoring and evaluation specialist. He is well educated and has enough information about social affairs and monitoring and evaluation field.
Khairullah Khairkha (Deputy of the Board)
Dr. Khairullah Khairkha has been born in Yaftal district of Badakhshan province. Dr. Khairkha graduated from faculty of social science, Kabul university in 2012. He got his master degree at the field of educational management from Al-Mustafa International University in 2017. Currently Dr. Khairkha is a PhD student in social science and economic development faculty, Yazd international University, Iran.
Dr. Khairkha worked as an editor at Noor TV Afghanistan from 2012 to 2018. from 2018 to 2019, he was teacher at Maiwand University. Also he has worked at Afghanistan central civil registration authority (ACCRA) as a provincial director for 2 years. Dr. Khairkha has worked with institute of higher education as a lecturer of education affairs from 2019 up to 2021.
He is well educated and has enough information about social affairs and community development.
Richard Montgomery (Board Member)
Rick graduated with a degree in International Studies at the University of Washington in in 1988 before beginning a career in travel writing and expedition leading that would take him to more than 50 countries. A chance encounter with a Tibetan woman who had adopted more than 250 orphaned children in Gyalzang, Tibet, prompted Rick to change his focus and dial into a higher passion. Rick started to support Tendol and other local humanitarians like her in 2001, finally founding Global Roots in 2007. With a few carefully chosen coworkers, Rick put Global Roots on the aid-giving map when he traveled to Afghanistan in 2010 to launch food security program. Currently Rick is the executive director of Global Roots International. Global Roots is now 16 years old and Rick has helped it achieve the highest rating possible at Guidestar.com, the world’s largest watchdog of grassroots charity.
Shima Dehghan (Board Member)
Mrs. Dr. Shima Dehghan has been born in Yazd province, Iran. She has a bachelor’s degree in agriculture engineering from Paya**sity-Maybud. She got her master degree at the field of NRM from Yazd International University in 2022.
Currently Dr. Shima is a PhD student in agriculture faculty, Isfahan industrial University, Iran. She is well educated and has worked with different organizations.
Mirza Mohammad Wahaj (Executive Director)
Born in Baharak, Badakhshan, Mirza Mohammad Wahaj has worked in the nonprofit community in Afghanistan for a variety of international aid organizations including the World Food Program of the United Nations and Global Roots of the USA. Wahaj gained key experience working for regional aid organizations including MSSRO and Life Roots.
After gaining a BA in Agriculture from Baghlan University, Wahaj got his master’s degree in natural resources management (NRM) from Yazd international university, Iran.
He then won funding for GRLO to develop a food security program (known locally as the Children Garden) for GRLO in Badakhshan two years ago. This experience gave him a deep appreciation for what nonprofits can do to improve the quality of life for children and poor families in Northern Afghanistan. Based on General Assembly decision, he is the Executive Director of GRLO in Afghanistan.
