Job description:
Role:
The Project
Officer will be in charge of the implementation of project activities as part
of Global Roots for life's food security program to enhance the protection of
the children in Afghanistan.
Core Responsibilities:
- Monitor and report on all project expenses of
budgets and available funding, including supporting documents;
- Coordination with all project stakeholders,
community’ elders, and beneficiaries.
- Cooperate with the procurement department to
procure the needed equipment and raw materials for the classrooms, garden
and greenhouses.
- Responsible
for compilation of information on project implementation, quality elements
of agriculture activities, and reporting to the project manager on a
regular basis.
- Ensure
improved coordination by working closely with project team (project
trainers, gardener and daily workers to ensure project activities are
implemented smoothly.
- Train
the CGP gardener in new agriculture technology agronomic practices,
horticulture techniques, and methods to enhance productivity in the area
and in the greenhouse.
- Support
the gardener and daily workers through field visits.
- Immediately
flagging any challenges or delays to the project officer.
- Provide
material (photos, videos, stories from the field and classrooms) about the
project and timely reports to showcase project outcomes and achievements;
- Coordinate the maintenance and operation of
farm equipment and techniques.
- Provide
educational training to his team members.
- Make recommendations on the schedule, cycle
and timing of planting, cultivation and harvesting.
- Expected to plant, harvest, wash, package,
irrigate, fertilize, weed, prune, clean, transplant, maintain plants and
soil in an organic manner
- Assist the gardener in the process of
planting, irrigation, applying fertilizer, and products harvesting.
- Be receptive to learning new methods of
farming/gardening and sharing existing knowledge of farming/gardening
- Identify plants as well as problems such as
diseases, weeds, and insect pests.
- Assist the project trainer and gardener during
the Agricultural products distribution to project beneficiaries.
- Perform
any other tasks as assigned by the project officer or director.
Qualification and requirements:
- University
degree in Agriculture (horticulture or Agronomy) is required.
- At
least 2 years' experience working in Agriculture (greenhouse, vegetables
production or a similar field).
- Fluency
in English is a must, with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Computer
knowledge of Ms office (Word, Excel and Power Point).
